Sharon Ann Cox has over 15 years of diverse experience in the mortgage industry, including nearly a decade of service to the firm’s Mortgage Brokers, Lenders and Appraisal Management Company (AMCs) clients.

Sharon advised clients on matters pertaining to Federal and State banking laws and regulations, licensing and qualification under the S.A.F.E. Act, and developing strategies for a vast array of mortgage banking/brokering transactions to ensure compliance under TILA, REG Z/MLO Comp Rule, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, HOEPA, HERA, FCRA/FACTA, GLBA, Red Flags, AML/SAR, among others.

Sharon’s industry experience includes a successful career in the Private Client Real Estate Division of Citigroup, where she audited mortgage loans and established compliant modifications or workouts for financially distressed mortgagors. The skills Sharon gained in that role inform her guidance of safe and sound lending practices for our mortgage lender clients. It has also impacted her commitment to helping mortgage lenders understand the requirements of a robust compliance management system, designed to ensure the lender’s fulfilment of their obligations to protect consumers.

Sharon’s expansive legal experience also includes over fifteen years of real estate experience, including litigation, where she represented real estate firms, financial institutions, and corporations in connection with their use, management, and the operation of real estate. She also focused on commercial lease disputes, leasing, foreclosure and community association disputes, contract negotiations, clearing of land use and property violations, lien issues, and the closing of commercial and residential real estate transactions. For her corporate clients she also formed US and offshore corporations and led contract negotiations. During law school, she interned for the Honorable Judge Robert Mark in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Miami, Florida, where she conducted extensive research and conferred with Judge Mark on various cases. She also worked with the Office of the Attorney General’s- Economic Crimes Unit, in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, aiding the OAG in its fight against economic crimes in South Florida, and wrote internal operating guidelines for the Unit. 

Sharon is a committed community leader and volunteers as a Servant Leader in the Envoys Pathfinder Club, in Tamarac, Florida, where she helps to teach life skills and programs which provide an outlet for the youth in her community.
